ELI-ALPS at the European Researchers’ Night

The 12th European Researchers' Night was organised on 29 September 2017. The event has been held every September since 2005. The Researchers’ Night celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2015 - about 1.1 million citizens and 18,000 researchers took part, in the scientific events organised in over 300 cities within Europe and neighbouring countries.


Action Plans on digital innovation in local business ecosystems

TRINNO Project’s (Business ecosystem for TRadition and INNOvation) consortium gathered for First Mid-Term Phase Event and Fourth Interregional Learning Event in Szeged, Csongrád County in Hungary. Project objective is to improve policy instruments for business support systems that focus on applying digital innovation in the local economy.


Visit of ICOMP participants to ELI-ALPS facility

Budapest housed ICOMP (International Conference on Multiphoton Processes) for four days from 23 September. The participants of the event payed a visit to Szeged, where colleagues of the research institute gave relevant professional talks and in the meantime, they also had the opportunity to take a tour around the building complex.


First laser systems arrived to ELI-ALPS Research Institute

The mid-infrared and the Terahertz laser systems are the first to have arrived to ELI-ALPS Research Institute in Szeged, Hungary. The scientific novelties of these  systems were introduced to the public yesterday within the framework of a press conference. The  amount  of  financial  support  for  the  second  implementation  phase  of  ELI-ALPS  Research Institute  is 40.052 billion  HUF,  85%  of  which  is  provided  by  the  European  Union's Regional Development Fund.


ELI-ALPS at the 33rd European Conference On Surface Science

Our colleagues represented ELI-ALPS with talks, posters and a stand at the 33. European Conference on Surface Science held in the Library of the University of Szeged. Approximately 400 researchers from all over the world participated at ECOSS to investigate atomic processes at the surface of materials and to discuss their experience.



High school teachers’ training at ELI-ALPS

ELI-ALPS is committed to promote science and inform the society about research activites carried out in the research institute. On the 25th of August, high school teachers from all around the country, teaching physics, biology, chemistry, or unified natural history, met for the first time to participate at a training. Their information is vital partly because of their knowledge broadening, and beacuse all teachers are in contact with hundreds of students every day, and pass their knowledge reliably to the younger generation.



International Conference on Extreme Light (ICEL 2017) - Registration is now open

Following-up on the tradition of the ELI-related conferences established some years ago with LEI 2009 and LEI 2011, the International Conference on Extreme Light provides a unique opportunity to bring together the community of ELI users at large in a single scientific event.


Visit of the president of HAS to the research centre

This afternoon László Lovász visited the research centre. The president of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences took a tour around the building complex accompanied by ELI directors, where he gained knowledge about the possibilities of the infrastructure and the ongoing work processes.


Giant reference mirror ready for ELI beam expanders

UK-based component maker Optical Surfaces says it has now produced a 600 mm diameter mounted reference flat mirror that will enable Thales to align beam expanders in the giant laser system being built for the Romanian element of Europe's Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI) project.


ELI-ALPS at Laser World of Photonics

ELI-ALPS in conjunction with the other ELI-pillars were exhibitors at the Laser World of Photonics in Munich. This biennial international event was the perfect to introduction of the laser research centre in Szeged to the wider Laser community  as well as networking with potential users.
